Overview

Giving Back to the Queen City

We've been part of the Charlotte community for over 20 years, and we believe that every additional person trained in CPR meaningfully raises our city's cardiac-arrest survival odds. That belief drives our outreach work. We partner with local schools, faith communities, community centers, and non-profit organizations to bring vital life-saving skills to people who might not otherwise have access to formal training.

How It Works

How We Give Back

  • School Partnerships: Training for teachers, coaches, athletic staff, and student groups across the 13-location service area.
  • Non-Profit Collaboration: Reduced-cost and donated training for youth sports leagues, scouting groups, and community volunteer organizations.
  • Faith Community Training: Basic CPR and AED education for churches, mosques, and synagogues that want to be ready for emergencies during services and events.
  • Bilingual Community Classes: Spanish-language instruction for Charlotte's Latino community, because life-saving skills belong to everyone, regardless of first language.
  • AED Donation & Advocacy: Help identifying funding and grant opportunities for community groups that need access to an AED.
  • Disaster Preparedness Events: Community workshops on what to do in the first few minutes of an emergency.

What You'll Get

Why Community Training Matters

Most out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in a residence. That means the person most likely to save someone's life is almost never a paramedic — it's a family member, a neighbor, a teacher, a coach, or a coworker. Every Heartsaver CPR AED class we teach in a school, a church, or a community center is another person who might be in the right place at the right time, able to do the thing that actually matters.
